What is LIFE Pannonic Salt?
The Seewinkel region to the east of Lake Neusiedl, with its remaining soda pans, is home to special habitats that are among the most unique and extreme in Austria. Saline inland waters are also a special feature at European level and even worldwide. The LIFE Pannonic Salt project was launched in order to preserve these unique habitats and continue to provide a livelihood for the creatures that live in them. In addition to the Nationalpark Neusiedlersee - Seewinkel, the project partners are the Office of the Burgenland Provincial Government, WWF Austria and the Vienna University of Technology. LIFE Pannonic Salt is co - funded by the European Union.
